About Trinity Airways

Trinity Airways (트리니티항공, IATA code TW) is the airline previously known as T'way Air. It has flown under the new name since 10 September 2026, keeping the TW code, after Sono Trinity Group, the Korean hotel and resort company formerly called Daemyung Sono Group, became its largest shareholder. Its hubs are Daegu, Seoul Gimpo and Seoul Incheon. Wikipedia describes it as a low-cost airline; it also flies long-haul routes and sells a Business fare alongside its economy fares.

From Hansung Airlines to T'way

The airline's roots are in Hansung Airlines, which received its air operator's certificate on 1 April 2005 and flew ATR 72 turboprops on Cheongju–Jeju before stopping in 2009 for financial reasons. It was reorganised as T'way Air in August 2010 with Boeing 737-800s, obtained a new domestic certificate in September 2010 and started with Gimpo–Jeju. An international certificate followed in 2011, and Bangkok became the first international route in October 2011. T'way recorded its first annual profit in 2013, the year it also started carrying cargo.

Long-haul growth

T'way received its first Airbus A330 in April 2022 and announced Seoul–Sydney, its first long-haul route, in October 2022. In October 2024 it opened Seoul–Frankfurt, one of the routes passed to it as a condition of Korean Air's merger with Asiana Airlines. The Korea Times reported in August 2026 that the airline flies 58 international routes: 30 in South-East and North-East Asia, 18 to Japan, five to European cities, three to Russia and Central Asia, one to the Americas and one to Oceania.

New owner and new name

Sono Trinity Group bought a 46% stake in February 2025. The rebrand was announced on 8 September 2025, shareholders approved the name change in March 2026, and the group itself was renamed in May 2026. The callsign changed from TEEWAY to SONOROUS on 4 September 2026, and the first flight under the Trinity name, Daegu–Jeju, ran on 10 September 2026. The new owner has said it plans upgraded in-flight services and a mileage programme linked to its hotels and resorts.

Fleet

A Wikipedia fleet table dated July 2026 lists 48 aircraft: 27 Boeing 737-800s, eight 737 MAX 8s, six Airbus A330-200s leased from Korean Air, five A330-300s and two Boeing 777-300ERs. A further twelve 737 MAX 8s and five Airbus A330-900s are on order. It codeshares with Eastar Jet and Tigerair Taiwan.
