Privacy policy

What personal data LowFaresAirline.com collects, why, and your choices.

Draft — this page is being reviewed and may change before launch.

Who we are

LowFaresAirline.com is an information site about low-cost airlines, and is responsible for the data described here. Postal address: Milk Bottle House, 8 Mount Street Upper, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Questions about this policy: hello@lowfaresairline.com.

What we collect

The site is a set of static pages. We don’t ask you to create an account. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and secure the service.

Site search runs entirely in your browser. What you type into it is not sent to us.

Advertising

Some pages show ads from Google AdSense: the home page, the airline directory, the region pages and the airline profiles. Our about, contact, legal and booking pages carry no ads and load no advertising code.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks you first. Until you choose, ad cookies and personalised advertising are switched off. If you say no, Google may still show ads that are not personalised. The message is Google’s own certified consent tool, run under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link that Google shows on pages with ads.

Elsewhere, Google may personalise ads unless you opt out in My Ad Center. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Cookies

On pages with ads, Google and its advertising partners may store cookies or similar data on your device to show and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland they only do so after you consent in Google’s message; Google’s consent tool itself stores your choice so it doesn’t ask again on every page.

We don’t set any cookies of our own. Our analytics services (see the next section) may store cookies or similar data on your device. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics stores none until you consent, and StatCounter and Hotjar don’t load at all until you consent.

Analytics

We use three analytics services to understand how the site is used: which pages people read, where they arrive from, and which links they follow. None of them is told your name or email address.

Google Analytics 4 (Google). It records the pages you visit, the site that referred you, your browser, device type and approximate location, and clicks on our booking links (which page, and which partner site the link goes to). Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. Outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland it sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_…, kept for up to two years) to recognise returning visitors. Inside those regions it sets no cookies unless you consent in Google’s consent message; until then it sends only cookieless signals that do not identify you or your device. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

StatCounter (StatCounter, an Irish company). It counts visits and records the pages you visit, the referring site, your browser, device, screen size, approximate location and IP address. It uses cookies and similar browser storage to tell new visitors from returning ones. It shows no badge or image on the page.

Hotjar (Hotjar Ltd). It records how visitors use a page — clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can see where pages are confusing. It hides what you type into forms, does not store your full IP address, and uses cookies to link the pages of one visit.

StatCounter and Hotjar only load after you agree in Google’s consent message, or where that message tells us no consent is required (outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland). On pages without the consent message they don’t load at all. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link Google shows on pages with ads.

Booking links

Links that search or book flights take you to Kiwi.com, and links that search hotels take you to Expedia, both through Travelpayouts. When you follow one, their own privacy policies apply on their sites, and they may use cookies to record that you came from us. We are not told who you are or what you book.

Flight alerts sign-up

If you use the “Cheap flight alerts from your airport” form, we store your email address, the home airport code if you give one, which form you used, and the dates you signed up, confirmed or unsubscribed. We use them only to send you flight alerts, and we don’t share or sell them.

We ask you to confirm first: we email you a link, and nothing else is sent to you unless you click it. Every alert email will have a one-click unsubscribe link. To have your sign-up deleted, email hello@lowfaresairline.com.

The list is stored in our database with Supabase, in the EU (Ireland). Emails are sent through Resend, our email provider.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
