Air India Express vs flydubai: fleets and facts compared

Air India Express sets out its domestic baggage rules in its baggage FAQ. Sizes and weights only; international allowances vary by route and are shown on the booking.

• Cabin bag: one piece of up to 7 kg, which must include any laptop and personal items, with maximum dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23 cm including handles, wheels and side pockets. Items strapped or tied together are not counted as one piece.
• Extra cabin allowance (Xtra Carry-On add-on): two cabin pieces with a combined weight of no more than 12 kg, or one piece of up to 12 kg.
• Checked bag: Xpress Lite fares include no checked bag. Other fares include one piece of up to 15 kg. Extra checked allowance can be pre-booked in steps of 3, 5, 10, 15 or 25 kg.
• Checked bag size: each bag must not exceed 81 x 119 x 119 cm (height x width x depth).

flydubai's baggage pages set out the following. Hand baggage is included in every fare; checked baggage depends on the fare type.

• Economy hand baggage: one bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 38 x 20 cm.
• Business Class hand baggage: two bags, 14 kg in total, each no more than 7 kg and 55 x 38 x 20 cm.
• Personal item: as part of the hand baggage allowance, one laptop bag, small handbag or satchel of up to 25 x 33 x 20 cm that fits under the seat in front.
• Checked baggage by fare: none on Economy Lite, 20 kg on Economy Value, 30 kg on Economy Flex, 40 kg in Business Class.
• Weight concept (flydubai bookings): up to three pieces sharing the total allowance, each under 32 kg and no more than 203 cm (height + width + depth); larger bags must go as cargo, except sports equipment.
• Piece concept (some partner-airline bookings): bags up to 150 cm; bags between 150 and 203 cm are charged as oversize.
• Infants: where the fare includes baggage, 5 kg of hand baggage (within 55 x 38 x 20 cm) and 10 kg of checked baggage.
